Working Alongside God

God didn’t just place us in this world for us to go to school, get a job, get married, have kids, and die.

We aren’t here just to enjoy ourselves - we have roles and responsibilities to accomplish.

Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. - Romans 12:6, MSG

Work in itself is not a curse.

Work becomes part of the curse when we are not in alignment with God’s Will.

Work is part of God’s image and He wants us to come alongside Him, because He is the Entrepreneur. He wants us to join forces with Him and create and build for His Kingdom. When we are in God’s will, working with Him every step of the way, we will find joy in our work. It would be just like in the Garden of Eden, where God and Adam come together to work.

God wants to be our co-worker; He wants to share with us the perfect vision of work - “that we can be united in purpose, passion and pursuit with God.”

God doesn’t want to leave us alone in our work, He wants to do it all with us. He wants to share ideas with us and come alongside us to bring them to life.

I personally view my work as God being the Founder while I am simply stewarding it, but I admit that this wasn’t always the case. I used to want to go my own way, which led to me giving up each time I reached a roadblock. I would have seasons of ideas but I would take credit for them, and as a result, shortly after initiating it I would lose the passion for it.

Nowadays, because I am looking to God for the ideas and brainstorming alongside Him, I am much more passionate about what I do. I also have gotten better at extending myself grace if I do not meet my own personal deadline as it has proven that my deadlines and God’s are different and as such I am learning (it’s a process) to ask Him for a timeline.

I have learned to be more flexible with my time and be open to change and correction. Now, if I post a video a week or not it’s okay, because About a Girl belongs to God and I post when He tells me to not when I want to.

This is a small glimpse of what working with God looks like.

There’s no pressure. Unless you choose to be lazy.

God is the best boss you can have.
