A Look at Psalms 6:8-9

written October 1st, 2018

I want us to look at 4 translations of Psalms 6:8-9 before we get started.

NLT: Go away, all you who do evil for the LORD has heard my weeping. The LORD has heard my pleas; the LORD will answer my prayer.

AMP: Depart from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. The LORD has heard my supplication [my plea for grace]; the LORD received my prayer.

MSG: Get out of here, you Devil’s crew: at last God has heard my sobs. My requests have been granted, my prayers are answered.”

NKJV: Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping The Lord has heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.”

This is how the LORD is speaking to me via this verse and it’s various translations:

“Go away all that do evil”

“all you workers of iniquity”

In my life, these don’t necessarily refer to people who are mean or evil per say, but more in reference to the people in my life that somehow [whether intentionally or not] are preventing me from growing - from accomplishing God’s plans for my life. Believe it or not, there are such people in our lives, people that are part of the “devil’s crew”, place strategically by Satan to disrupt us. They don’t know they are being used to discourage us, and without the Holy Spirit opening our eyes and helping us discern we too won’t know that they are acting on behalf of the enemy.

the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.”

He has heard my sobs.”

God hears us when we cry out to Him. He heard me when I cried out; cried out in sadness because I didn’t feel like I was living my purpose. He heard my weeping when I felt like I was living day-to-day, paycheck-to-paycheck, working to pay the bills instead of towards my dreams and goals. He heard my sobs when I wasn’t getting anything accomplished. He heard me because I pleaded to Him, I chased after Him and He answered my prayers.

My requests have all bee granted.”

The LORD gave me the direction I needed. He gave me friends and a purpose through small group. He helped me find my identity and break the cycle I was on through Forward. He broke every chain that was holding me back; chains that were causing my soul to cry out to Him even when my mouth my shut. He heard my desolated pleas even when my mind tried to reject them.

The LORD received my prayers.”

No truer words have rang. I have been given authority on this Earth. I will not be a slave to Satan, my chains are broken, I am free and I will not be like the Israelites in the wilderness. questioning God. I know where He brought me from, I accept His revelations, the Truth the enemy tried to disguise with incentives.

I cried out and God heard me, His daughter and because I am His daughter, because I believe that Jesus Christ died at the cross for me, that He took my place and sacrificed Himself so that I could live forever, “the LORD received my prayers” and I can go confidently knowing that my “requests are granted.”

The Father loves me.

I am a Daughter of the Most High.

The LORD is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?” - Hebrews 13:6, NLT

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. - Hebrews 13:8, NLT
