GENESIS: the origin or mode of formation of something.

It is important to know that the stories in the Bible are about God, not the people of which the story is written of.

Key Verses:

Be fruitful and increase in numbers.

Genesis 1:28 NIV

All people on earth will be blessed through you.

Genesis 12: NIV

Speaking from a personal standard, I take an individualistic perspective to this verse. I believe that I will be a blessing to people on earth… now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean that I’ll be famous or that people will be lucky to know me. What I mean is that, because of my obedience to God, there will be a domino effect in people’s lives because of me. I will be a blessing to someone, who will be a blessing to someone else, and so on and so forth.

I think we should all live with that perspective in mind. That what you do has an effect on other people, and that effect can be either positive or negative. You can either be a blessing to someone or you can be a curse. The choice is up to you.

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish … the saving of many lives.

Genesis 50:20 NIV
